Modern modes of living
contribute to an increasing need for physical activity and education
in the effective use of leisure time. This class will cover a wide
range of activities which will allow students to participate in
various individual and team experiences. They include flag football,
soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, golf, floor hockey,
lacrosse, team handball, and physical fitness.
CAAEL PE
-
CAAEL PE is a class offered
to Indian Plains’ students from both Phoenix and Graduation
academies. This is the one of the few classes in the IPHS curriculum
that allows students from both academies to interact with each other
on a daily basis. CAAEL PE combines ideologies of sportsmanship,
cooperation, teamwork, positive collaboration, and empathy with the
goals and procedures of the Chicago Area Alternative Education
League. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a
different sport each quarter
Health & Fitness
-
This course is designed to
provide a framework in which students can develop physically,
mentally, socially, and emotionally. Emphasis for this course will
be on physical fitness, fundamental skills and rules of each
activity, and knowledge of the importance of fitness for life.
Activities will include bowling, rollerblading, volleyball, wiffle
ball, ladder golf, bag-o, ping pong, rock climbing, and other
non-traditional sports activities. Additionally, students will
study health issues and further explore health-related concepts.
Topics covered include health and wellness, nutrition, promoting
safe and healthy relationships, personal care and healthy behaviors,
and injury prevention.
