Course Offerings
Beginning Algebra
-
This course is designed to
give students an introduction to basic Algebra concepts and skills.
Students will be introduced to variables, function patterns, graphs,
rational numbers and the property of numbers. By the end of the
course, students will use their skills to solve multi-step equations
and inequalities, relate graphs to events and functions, and apply
linear equations and graphs to real life situations.
Math 100
-
This course is designed to
provide students with additional development of basic arithmetic and
computation skills that will be used in “real life” situations.
Instruction will be delivered using a variety of activities and
projects. Students will learn about basic operations, number
awareness, fractions, decimals, percents. Additional topics include
statistics (mean, median and mode), probability, and variable
awareness. Students will participate in learning projects as they
learn about checking accounts, travel, taxes and making basic
purchases.
Geometry Survey
-
This course is designed to
give students an introduction to the basic geometry concepts, using
problem solving through inductive and deductive reasoning, but with
little emphasis on formal proofs. The course includes topics such as
distance concepts, angles, triangles, geometric inequalities,
parallel and perpendicular lines and planes, polygons, circles and
spatial figures and their properties. Right triangle trigonometry is
also introduced.
