Course Offerings
Consumer Economics
- Consumer Economics is a semester long class that provides an overview of
the roles of the individual, business, government, and foreign trade in the
American economy. The individual economic roles of earning income, consuming,
and performing as a citizen are carefully examined. Special emphasis is placed
on the consumer activities of buying, saving, borrowing, investing, and
insuring. By the end of this class students will be able to operate more
intelligently and efficiently as a member of our society and understand our
economic system and relationships among the individual, business, labor,
government, and foreign trade.
CWT (Cooperative Work Training)
- Cooperative work training was developed to provide eleventh and twelfth
grade students with maturing experiences through employment that will help them
become productive, responsible individuals. Specific career objectives may be
delayed to allow for social and emotional adjustments, career exploration, and
development of self-awareness. Students acquire knowledge of employment
requirements, their social responsibilities, and the free enterprise system.
Business Applications 1
- This is an advanced Microtype Pro course that is
independent and self- paced. It is the first in the Business Applications
sequence. Students will become proficient in: alphabetic keyboarding, numeric
keyboarding, keypad keyboarding, and word processing.
Business Applications 2
- This is an advanced survey of Microsoft Office that is independent and
self- paced. It is the second in the Business Applications sequence. Students
will become proficient in: Windows and Office basics, formatting and editing,
desktop publishing, Excel basics, advanced worksheet operations, worksheet
charts, and Power Point basics.
Business Application 3
- This is an advanced word processing course that is independent and self-
paced. It is the third in the Business Applications sequence. Students will
become proficient in: creating and editing a document, moving and copying text,
formatting, tables and mail merges, text boxes, and inserting graphics and word
art.
Business Applications 4
- This is an advanced spreadsheet and presentation graphics course that is
independent and self- paced. It is the fourth in the Business Applications
sequence. Students will become proficient in: menus/dialog boxes, formulas and
functions, printing text formatting, cell enhancement, modifying columns and
rows, display options, consolidating data, chart basics, inserting pictures and
objects, and power point basics.
Computers for Class
-
Computers in the classroom
is a course where students build an understanding of the components
and tools that are used to produce professional looking documents
utilizing a variety of computer programs. Students will apply the
knowledge and skills gained to complete individual and team
exercises and projects. Students will focus on the application and
integration of text and graphics using Microsoft Word, Inspirations,
Microsoft PowerPoint, Photo Story, and
Microsoft Publisher. Also included are topics such as multimedia
careers, ethics and technology, and practical tips for improving
documents and presentations.
